The 2013 Atlantic hurricane season begins June 1st.
And, emergency managers in Miami-Dade County are wasting no time letting people know the time to prepare is now.
Governor Rick Scott joined officials at the Miami-Dade County Emergency Operations Center in Doral Thursday, telling residents to make a plan.
Scott said it's more important than ever, since federal sequester cuts could affect the Florida National Guard and its ability to respond.
Scott said the Guard is subject to furlough days and reduced training from June through September, right during the heart of the hurricane season.
